The Honourable Minister of Works and Infrastructure, Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan, visited six sites on Wednesday, where the Ministry is currently carrying out works. At present, MOWI is undertaking several projects across the nation to ensure the continued improvement of infrastructure for the safe commute both motorists and pedestrians.
Minister Rambachan visited the site of Valencia Bridge reconstruction, Valencia Bypass, D’Abadie Bridge reconstruction, Arouca Bridges, St. Joseph Bridge reconstruction and the Pasea South drainage project. Also on this tour, Minister Rambachan officially opened the Freeport Deceleration Ramp with a simple ribbon cutting ceremony.
On hand for the tour was MP for Toco/Sangre Grande, Dr. Rupert Griffith. He expressed his gratitude on behalf of his constituents to the Ministry for the works being undertaken in his constituency. Speaking specifically to the Valencia Bridge project, Dr. Griffith said “There are quite a few near misses on this bridge so this is an excellent achievement here. Traffic will be able to move smoothly and it is going to be a lot safer to use this road.”
Throughout the tour, Minister Rambachan met with the various contractors who kept him updated as to the pace of works and the scheduled completion dates. Most projects are on target and within budget.
