Suruj calls for more Police foot patrols in the business District of Gasparillo

The Member of Parliament for Tabaquite, Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan is calling for more Police foot patrols in the business District of Gasparillo. His call comes in the wake of the brazen attack by gun toting bandits, who fired shots inside a jewellery store and robbed the proprietors at the Gasparillo Mall yesterday. The attack appears similar to the robbery in San Fernando.

Thankful that no one was physically injured, Dr. Rambachan said that this assault by fearless criminals on the hard working Business Community is too much to stomach.

The Member of Parliament is particularly disturbed to have been told that the Gasparillo Police Station did not have a vehicle to move swiftly to the scene of the robbery although the other persons in the mall called the Police as the robbery was still in progress.

Dr. Rambachan notes that the current Commissioner of Police is unsuited for the job since he appears not to have an operational style to deal with the current upsurge in crime. Further, the Minister appears to be disinterested spouting theoretical nonsense in the face of the criminal assault.

The time for excuses is finished. Citizens are fed up and frustrated. Lives continue to be in danger and the Authorities and Government are mere spectators to the plight of the citizenry.

With thanks,

Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan
