Suruj: Has The Ministry of Works gone to sleep?
MP for Tabaquite Dr Surujrattan Rambachan is asking whether The Ministry of Works has gone to sleep! He noted that “With the outrageous number of potholes where they are repaired they reoccur within a week, with road signs that could save lives unattended and left in a dilapidated state, like at the entrance to Factory Road Chaguanas and at Bhagwansingh’s Chaguanas, it is obvious that the Minister has lost control over his Ministry and more than this the priorities are all wrong. “
The death of Dr Bahall said MP Rambachan at Factory Road, Chaguanas may be attributed to speed amongst other factors but there is no excuse for the lack of attention to the signage that guides entry into that lay bye as well as others. This is criminal Neglect declared the MP for Tabaquite.
I spoke of this in Parliament, he said, almost three months ago and was promised action. To date nothing has happened.
Where is the Director of Highways in these matters. Where is the Traffic Unit of the Ministry of Works. Who is minding he store Mr Minister., he asks.
Does work come to a halt under a PNM administration? Do people feel that they don’t have to have the same level of commitment and attention to the public when PNM is in office.
The Minister must take charge of what appears to be a dysfunctional Ministry at this time.
